Thoughtful Tank Construction

The tank is constructed from stainless steel (EN 1.4307) and designed as a single-compartment tank with a dome-shaped baffle located in the middle of the tank. This ensures stable driving and reduces liquid movements during transport.

The tank is self-supporting and mounted at the front on a console with a 2” king bolt and at the rear on a 4-axle bogie. The front and rear ends are designed with clamped end caps and a polished finish.

Controlled via PLC control unit and radio control (Scanreco) with display and proportional control. This provides precise operation and high comfort for the driver. Central lubrication (Lincoln) is mounted on the crane, pumps, and axles for minimal maintenance.

The advantage is typically greatest for short transport distances and many transport cycles per day.

For example, for short distances of around 5–10 km, the time savings from loading and emptying can have a significant impact on the daily capacity. For longer distances, the economy should be assessed based on the specific task, as driving time, tank volume, and payload become more significant.

A liquid manure trailer with the crane and suction arm allows the driver to handle the unloading more independently and reduces the need for manual hose handling.

With a VM Tarm liquid manure trailer, the unloading time can be reduced from about 12–20 minutes to 2–3 minutes, depending on the tank size, pump, medium, and conditions at the unloading site.

Shorter distances such as 5-10 km provide an extra good effect for a StarLine liquid manure trailer. For medium distances, the economy should be calculated individually, while larger tank volumes may become more important for very long transport distances around 60-80 km.

Shorter handling time can make several transport cycles possible during a working day.

A liquid manure trailer is a tank trailer designed for professional transport of liquid manure and other liquid biomasses. It is used, among other things, between agriculture, fields, and biogas plants, where large quantities need to be moved efficiently and reliably.

The optimal size of a liquid manure trailer depends not only on the tank's volume. The overall transport cycle is significantly important:

 

Loading → transport → unloading → next trip.

 

A larger liquid manure tank on a trailer is therefore not necessarily the most efficient solution if it simultaneously leads to longer handling time, higher empty weight, or poorer utilisation of the overall transport cycle.

The unloading time for a VM Tarm liquid manure trailer depends among other things on the type of pump, media, suction conditions, and the conditions at the unloading site.

 

Examples of unloading time with a liquid manure trailer from VM Tarm StarLine:

Under normal conditions, a VM Tarm liquid manure trailer with a capacity of 38 m³ can be unloaded in approximately 3 minutes.

Under normal conditions, a VM Tarm liquid manure trailer with a capacity of 36 m³ can be unloaded in approximately 2.5 minutes.

Under normal conditions, a VM Tarm liquid manure trailer with a capacity of 28 m³ can be unloaded in approximately 2 minutes.

StarLine liquid manure trailer can be configured with a centrifugal pump and a rotary pump, and the system can switch between the pumps via hydraulic valves. Additionally, there may be an option for connection of external pumping solutions.

No, a larger tank on a liquid manure trailer is not always more efficient. Tank volume is only one part of the overall transport economy.

 

Loading time, emptying time, transport distance, tare weight, and the number of possible transports per workday also matter. For short distances, a quick transport cycle can in some cases provide greater daily capacity than a larger trailer with longer handling time.

Yes. StarLine can be used for the transport of both liquid manure and degassed biomass and can, for example, be part of fixed transport cycles between agriculture and biogas plants.
